Like Adventagious, here is a band that became smitten with one Humbugs song and in this case, came to us to request they be allowed to submit it for the album. Their take on "Attack of the 50-Foot Santa" was in their typical bayou techno-funk mode with sound effects and crowd singalongs, turning what had been a simple, forgettable guitar ballad into a rousing song no human being alive will soon forget.

Little is known about the Swamp Coolers outside of their professed love for this Humbugs song as well as the classic "When Santa Doesn't Like You." Popular throughout certain regions of the Blue Ridge Mountains, they're virtually unknown elsewhere and the producers of this tribute had not heard of them until the day they showed up, shotguns in hand, asking/demanding a slot on Bigger Than Santa.

We had hoped to have an information session at which more of the band's bio, history and general approach to the question of their art would be teased out, but before this could happen they were escorted out, out of the building and out into the woods, by building management, citing a heretofore little-noted "No Shotguns" policy.

Regardless of this little snafu, the Swamp Coolers seem set to go places with their singular style and double-barrelled energy.
