Christmas Beer
On a chilly winter afternoon, a dozen fur-clad cavemen gathered in a hotel meeting room. They were actors vying for the chance to play Neandertals in a beer commercial. Seeing that so few people had responded to the casting call, they at first were excited at their prospects of being selected for the commercial, but the mood gradually turned anxious when the casting agents themselves didn't arrive.
Peter Charfelpumpfer, fresh from his role as a pomegranate in a dancing fruit bowl, kept everyone's spirits positive by breaking open the case of beer that he'd brought as a prop, and prompting the assembled actors to invent and rehearse Neandertal-style drinking songs. (One of those songs, "One Beer, Two Beer," would later storm the European charts as Dezemberfest's first single.) By the end of the evening, the proto-band did their first gig, getting paid in beer for a ragged performance of their new songs at a nearby pub.
With a few subtle refinements and slightly modernized costumes, Dezemberfest was born. For Bigger Than Santa, Dezemberfest performs their decibel-enhanced adaptation of Bah & the Humbugs' "Christmas Beer."
