BAH & THE HUMBUGS: BIGGER THAN SANTA
Featuring Humbugs songs performed by the following bands:
Merry or Die
If St. Saint didn't exist, someone would have to invent them. And indeed that's exactly what happened during the production of 1980s teen film "Saint Nicholas's Fire." Legend has it that director Roderic Boxfield declared, "What we need for the soundtrack is a good-looking, generic-sounding, earnest young Christmas-rock band with an almost impossibly catchy name." Within 24 hours, St. Saint had not only blinked into existence, but had also written a detailed (and entirely made-up) five-year history, completed a professional photo shoot, recorded a demo -- their cleaned-up, studio-pop version of the Humbugs' "Merry or Die" -- and snagged their place in the movie soundtrack business.
St. Saint didn't stop there; they also contributed songs to the films "Pretty in Red and Green," "Blitzen and Donder's Eventful Excursion," "Sleigh Rider III," and "Independence Day VI: Christmas Day," along with nine different teen dramas on the WB network. For this album, St. Saint returned to their roots by rerecording "Merry or Die" from scratch, sounding just as earnest and just as eighties as ever.
In December 2010, die-hard St. Saint fans can catch their heroes on VH-1's Christmas band retrospective show, "Behind the Stocking."
