Dewey Beats Kerry

Hey, I have a question. If the pollsters are so good at measuring the political pulse of the public, then why do we need to go to all the trouble of having everybody vote?

Hey, don't throw away your vote,
don't throw away your vote,
don't throw away your vote this year!
There's no point in it, you know,
no point in it, you know,
no point in it, you know, that's clear.
Vote only for the man who's got a chance to win,
vote only for the man who's already all but in,
don't muse about your vote in your heart and soul,
just give it to the man who's up in the latest poll!

This just in...
Bush ahead in all the reds and many of the blues,
the voters really like the man and disregard the news.
The latest unemployment stats are looking good for Bush,
he's benefiting from a deinflationary push.
Evangelicals are strong for him and so are ethnic groups
that like him on gay marriage and on sticking with the troops.
Though the margin will be razorlike, down to the wire and thin,
we're projecting nonetheless that Bush is guaranteed to win.

This time of year it's all about believing the polls,
conceiving our roles,
achieving our goals!
We wake up bright and early at the start of every day,
tune in, log on or listen in to hear what pollsters say!

And this just in...
Kerry's on the upswing and the Prez is looking weak,
he's shaky on Iraq and the stock market's past its peak.
The voters are unhappy, they are set for something new,
they like the sound of all the things that Kerry says he'll do.
Gay marriage isn't catching fire but Medicare is hot,
Kerry's got momentum now, Republicans have not.
Undecideds have been moving to him, Bush is in a pin,
as of this point it's very clear that Kerry's gonna win!

This time of year it's all about believing the polls,
conceiving our roles,
achieving our goals!
We wake up bright and early at the start of every day,
tune in, log on or listen in to hear what pollsters say!

And this just in...
Voters show surprising doubts regarding either man,
they think the country's in a fix and neither has a plan.
Ralph Nader's playing well in homes where jobs are on the line,
his numbers there are growing while the other guys decline.
The undecideds like a man who's not in staffers' hands,
they go for Nader leveling and saying where he stands.
His anticorporate talking points are cutting through the din,
and all the numbers tell us that Ralph Nader's gonna win...
...but now wait,
here's an update,
yes, this just in:
The numbers show a groundswell in support of Donald Trump,
and the figures for my uncle Bob have taken quite a jump.
The polls put Franklin Roosevelt a little bit ahead,
although he isn't eligible, being that he's dead.
The voters think Han Solo has electoral appeal,
apparently not bothered by the fact he isn't real.
We see a late surge building for a Frodo Baggins win,
though challenged by Reese Witherspoon or either Hilton twin.
In Utah we've discovered strong support for an old shirt,
and Florida may well be carried by a lump of dirt.
The numbers that we're seeing are diverse, as we've expected,
and every single voter might well also be elected!

This time of year it's all about believing the polls,
conceiving our roles,
achieving our goals!
We wake up bright and early at the start of every day,
tune in, log on or listen in to hear what pollsters say!
